Dear President Cashman:

Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 90, Section 11 clearly state that “Every person operating a motor vehicle shall have the certificate of registration for the vehicle and for the trailer...upon his person or in the vehicle, or in some easily accessible place...” It is the position of the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section that a current registration must be with the trailer when it is being operated in Massachusetts.

If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please feel free to call me at 617—727—6599.
